Field Hockey Canada is the governing body of the sport in Canada, from Junior to Masters level athletes, competing recreationally and competitively in men’s and women’s programs.
From grassroots to high performance, Field Hockey Canada has approximately 18,000 field hockey players across the country – 9,000 of which are a part of high school field hockey programs – dedicate themselves to the sport at all levels from community hockey to high performance. Their dedication and pursuit of excellence, along with the tireless work from coaches, officials, and all volunteers, makes for a Canadian field hockey community as strong as it has ever been.
Canada beat Ireland in sudden death shoot out on the second leg in Vancouver on October 27th 2019.
This will be just the second time in history that Canada qualifies for back-to-back Olympic appearances following 1984 and 1988.

Dublin — Donnybrook stadium erupted when Ireland’s goalkeeper Ayeisha McFerran made the final save but then was quickly silenced as Canada referred the play. Six thousand fans held their breath and then erupted again when the call was confirmed. Ireland advanced to 2020 Olympic Games with a dramatic sudden death shootout victory over Team Canada.
The two-game series played in front of back-to-back capacity crowds was a nail biter from wire to wire. Zero goals through eight quarters of play set up a thrilling shootout to cap off the Olympic Qualifier weekend.
